HEAL Network

To connect with other northerners and initiatives focused on food security, healthy eating and active living, check out the HEAL Network. This grassroots network engages individuals and communities with information sharing, education and dialogue opportunities, as well as providing links to funding opportunities, in ways that work for northern residents.

Planting the Seeds of Health: From the Farm to You

Northern Health’s Registered Dietitians (RDs) encourage you to eat enough, quality, good and good-for-you food that is grown sustainably to fuel your active lifestyle and to support a healthy community and environment.

You make many decisions around food every day. To help you explore key information and community resources regarding food and eating well, check out these healthy eating categories:

Dietitians in Northern Health

Registered Dietitians within Northern Health provide nutrition expertise and support in a variety of ways:

Administrative dietitians manage food production and distribution in a cost effective and food safe manner in hospitals and long term care facilities.

Most hospitals, health centres and long term care facilities employ clinical dietitians who identify nutrition problems, assess nutritional status of individuals, develop and monitor nutrition care plans and provide education on special diet modifications.

Population health dietitians use population-based strategies, including community development, capacity building, health promotion, education, advocacy and policy development, to support the attainment of community food security.
